10124-41-1 Usage
Description
Calcium thiosulphate is a triclinic crystalline compound that decomposes upon drying, forming a yellow crust on the surface. It is prone to spontaneous decomposition at temperatures between 43°C and 49°C. calcium thiosulphate has been utilized in the treatment of dermatitis and jaundice caused by arsphenamine.
Uses
Used in Pharmaceutical Industry:
Calcium thiosulphate is used as a therapeutic agent for the treatment of dermatitis and jaundice. Its application is primarily due to its ability to counteract the effects of arsphenamine, a compound that can cause these conditions.
Used in Chemical Industry:
In the chemical industry, calcium thiosulphate may be utilized for various purposes, such as a reactant or catalyst in specific chemical reactions, taking advantage of its decomposition properties at certain temperatures.
Purification Methods
Recrystallise it from water below 60o in a N2 atmosphere, followed by drying with EtOH and Et2O. Store it in a refrigerator. The hexahydrate can decompose spontaneously at 43-49o. Store it in a cool closed container. [Pethybridge & Taba J Chem Soc, Faraday Trans 1 78 1331 1982.]
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 10124-41-1 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 1,0,1,2 and 4 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 4 and 1 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 10124-41:
(7*1)+(6*0)+(5*1)+(4*2)+(3*4)+(2*4)+(1*1)=41
41 % 10 = 1
So 10124-41-1 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
