Description
CHROMIUM POTASSIUM SULFATE, also known as chrome alum and chrome potash alum, is a crystalline compound with a chemical formula of CrK(SO4)2·12H2O. It exhibits a dark, violet-red color and is efflorescent and soluble in water. The compound is derived by reducing potassium dichromate in dilute sulfuric acid with sulfurous acid. The higher the pH, the more chromium (III) is adsorbed on the surface of potassium sulfate crystal powder, which acts as a crystal growth suppressor.
