Description
Magnesium hypochlorite is a chemical compound with the chemical formula Mg(OCl)2 and a molecular weight of 127.286 g/mol. It is prepared by the reaction of hypochlorous acid upon magnesium carbonate in water, resulting in a product that is not stable in water and decomposes to form basic magnesium hypochlorite, Mg(OCl)2·2Mg(OH)2.
Uses
Used in Bleaching Applications:
Magnesium hypochlorite is used as a bleaching agent for textiles. Textiles are bleached by immersing them in an aqueous solution of this salt.
Used in Sanitizing Applications:
Basic magnesium hypochlorite, Mg(OCl)2·2Mg(OH)2, is useful in sanitizing applications due to its available chlorine content in the range of about 50 to 60%.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 10233-03-1 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 1,0,2,3 and 3 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 0 and 3 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 10233-03:
(7*1)+(6*0)+(5*2)+(4*3)+(3*3)+(2*0)+(1*3)=41
41 % 10 = 1
So 10233-03-1 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
