10551-21-0 Usage
General Description
1-PHENETHYL-2-PICOLINIUM BROMIDE, also known as PEPB, is a synthetic compound that has been used as an anticholinergic agent in medical research. It acts as a competitive inhibitor of the muscarinic acetylcholine receptor, leading to a decrease in the activity of certain neurotransmitters. PEPB has been studied for its potential use in treating neurological disorders and as a tool in neuroscience research. It has also been investigated for its bronchodilator properties and as a potential treatment for conditions such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Additionally, PEPB has been explored for its potential use in the development of new drugs for various medical conditions.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 10551-21-0 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 1,0,5,5 and 1 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 2 and 1 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 10551-21:
(7*1)+(6*0)+(5*5)+(4*5)+(3*1)+(2*2)+(1*1)=60
60 % 10 = 0
So 10551-21-0 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Efficient and chemoselective reduction of pyridines to tetrahydropyridines and piperidines via rhodium-catalyzed transfer hydrogenation
Wu, Jianjun,Tang, Weijun,Pettman, Alan,Xiao, Jianliang
supporting information, p. 35 - 40 (2013/03/13)
Promoted by iodide anion the rhodium complex dimer, [Cp RhCl 2]2, catalyzes efficiently the transfer hydrogenation of various quaternary pyridinium salts under mild conditions, affording not only piperidines but also 1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridines in a highly chemoselective fashion, depending on the substitution pattern at the pyridinium ring. The reduction is conducted in azeotropic formic acid/triethylamine (HCOOH-Et 3N) mixture at 40 °C, with catalyst loadings as low as 0.005mol% being feasible. Copyright
