106096-93-9 Usage

Description

Fibroblast Growth Factor, Basic, Human (FGF-Basic) is a protein found in basement membranes and sub-endothelial extracellular matrix. It plays a crucial role in the maintenance of human embryonic stem cells in culture and various other stem cell lines, such as mesenchymal stem (stroma) cells (MSC). FGF-Basic is necessary for pluripotency and self-renewal of embryonic stem cells (ESC) and lineage-defined stem cells, supporting their proliferation and inhibiting differentiation.

Uses

Used in Stem Cell Research and Therapy:
FGF-Basic is used as a growth factor for the maintenance and proliferation of human embryonic stem cells and other stem cell lines. It supports the self-renewal and pluripotency of these cells, making it an essential component in stem cell research and therapy.
Used in Regenerative Medicine:
FGF-Basic is used as a regenerative factor in regenerative medicine, promoting tissue repair and regeneration by stimulating the proliferation and differentiation of stem cells into various cell types.
Used in Drug Discovery and Development:
FGF-Basic is used as a target for drug discovery and development, as modulation of its activity can have therapeutic effects in various diseases and conditions related to stem cell function and tissue repair.
Used in Tissue Engineering:
FGF-Basic is used as a component in tissue engineering, where it can enhance the growth and differentiation of stem cells into specific cell types, contributing to the development of functional tissues and organs for transplantation.
Used in Wound Healing and Skin Regeneration:
FGF-Basic is used as a healing factor in wound healing and skin regeneration, promoting the migration, proliferation, and differentiation of stem cells and other cell types involved in the healing process.
Used in Cancer Research:
FGF-Basic is used as a research tool in cancer research, as it can help in understanding the role of stem cells and their microenvironment in tumor growth, invasion, and metastasis.

Biochem/physiol Actions

FGF2 (fibroblast growth factor 2, also referred to as BFGF (basic fibroblast growth factor)) interacts with FGFR1 (fibroblast growth factor receptor 1), FGFR2 and FGFR3. It stimulates the proliferation of a wide variety of cells including mesenchymal, neuroectodermal and endothelial cells. FGF2 also determines the fate of neural precursor cells and promotes neuronal axon regeneration. It plays an important role in spinal cord injury repair. FGF2 is known to stimulate angiogenesis and is associated with cancer development. High levels of FGF2 are present in the kidney of children with HIV (human immunodeficiency virus)-renal diseases. The FGF2 mRNA is a target of miRNA miR-503.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 106096-93-9 includes 9 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 6 digits, 1,0,6,0,9 and 6 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 9 and 3 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 106096-93:
(8*1)+(7*0)+(6*6)+(5*0)+(4*9)+(3*6)+(2*9)+(1*3)=119
119 % 10 = 9
So 106096-93-9 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
