A new method for the synthesis of hitherto unknown substituted 1, 7-dihydrospiro-[pyrazolo[3, 4-b]pyridine-4, 3'-indole]-2', 6(1'i/, 5i/)-diones based on three-component condensation of 5-aminopyrazoles with Meldrum's acid and isatins is developed.
