The invention provides nitrophenyl mustard compounds useful in cancer therapy as targeted cytotoxic agents, of Formula (I) and Formula (II): wherein X represents C1, Br, I, or OSO2R1, Y represents C1, Br, I, or OSO2R1, Z represents at any available ring position -CO- or -SO2-, R represents: (1) a straight or branched chain C1-6 alkyl group or -CH2CH2OMe, when X and Y are the same, or (2) a straight or branched chain C3-6 alkyl group or -CH2CH2OMe when X and Y are different, R1 represents a straight or branched chain C1-6 alkyl group, and n is an integer from 1 to 6; and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof.
