128-58-5 Usage
Description
Vat Green 1, also known as 16,17-Dimethoxyanthra[9,1,2-cde]-benzo[rst]pentaphene-5,10-dione, is a brilliant green pigment with a variegated dark green powder form. It is insoluble in water, ethanol, chloroform, and toluene, but soluble in hot 1,2,3,4-tetrahydronaphthalene and slightly soluble in acetone, 2-chlorophenol, nitrobenzene, and heat pyridine. It is used for dyeing and printing on cotton fibers and polyester/cotton blended fabrics, as well as for coloring plastics, soap, and paper.
Uses
Used in Textile Industry:
Vat Green 1 is used as a dye for cotton fiber dyeing and printing, providing brilliant green coloration to the fabric. It is also used for dyeing polyester/cotton blended fabrics.
Used in Plastic Industry:
Vat Green 1 is used as a coloring agent for plastics, imparting a vibrant green hue to the material.
Used in Soap Industry:
Vat Green 1 is used as a colorant in soap production, adding a distinct green color to the soap bars.
Used in Paper Industry:
Vat Green 1 is used for coloring paper products, offering a green tint to the paper.
Chemical Properties:
Vat Green 1 is a solid pigment with unique solubility properties, being insoluble in common solvents but soluble in specific conditions. It undergoes color changes under different chemical treatments, such as alkaline reduction to leuco form for blue color and acid reduction to leuco form for brilliant red color. In concentrated sulfuric acid, it exhibits a red light purple color, which turns into a green precipitate upon dilution.
Standard:
Vat Green 1 meets various industry standards for fastness and performance, including ironing fastness, chlorine bleach, light fastness, mercerized, oxygen bleach, and soaping. The ratings for these standards range from 1 to 7, with 1 being the lowest and 7 being the highest, indicating the level of resistance or performance of the pigment in different conditions.
Preparation
(a) In nitrobenzene lieutenant Dinaphtho[1,2,3-cd:3′,2′,1′-lm]perylene-5,10-dione oxidation products were methylated; (b) will be 2-Methoxy-7H-benzo[de]anthracen-7-one?with Potassium hydroxide to alkali fusion; (C) will Benzanthrone in sulfuric acid with manganese dioxide oxidation, then use Potassium hydroxide Etanol solution condensation, then methylation; (d) will be 16,17-Dihydroxyviolanthrone methylation.

Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 128-58-5 includes 6 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 3 digits, 1,2 and 8 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 5 and 8 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 128-58:
(5*1)+(4*2)+(3*8)+(2*5)+(1*8)=55
55 % 10 = 5
So 128-58-5 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
