Synthesis of fluorinated and non-fluorinated bicyclic amidines through ring-closing metathesis

An efficient method for the synthesis of fluorinated and non-fluorinated imidazoazepines by a ring-closing metathesis reaction as the key step is described. The influence of the fluorine atoms on the preparation of these bicyclic systems is also studied. The synthesis of fluorinated and non-fluorinated 3,5,8,9-tetrahidro-2H-imidazo[1,2-a]azepines and 2,3,5,8-tetrahydroimidazo[1,2-a]pyridines by using imidazolines as synthetic intermediates is reported. Thecondensation of esters and 1,2-diamines in the presence of trimethylaluminum provided the imidazolines that were transformed into suitable dienes for a ring-closing metathesis reaction. Copyright
