The reaction of divinyl sulfoxide with monoethanolamine takes place with high regiospecificity and leads to 4-(2-hydroxyethyl)perhydro-1,4-thiazine 1-oxide.In the case of diethanolamine vinyl di(2-hydroxyethyl)aminoethyl sulfoxide and bis sulfoxide are formed, depending on the ratio of the initial reagents. 4-(2-Hydroxyethyl)perhydro-1,4-thiazine was obtained in the reaction of 4-(2-hydroxyethyl)perhydro-1,4-thiazine 1-oxide with thionyl chloride.
