The pathways for the oxidative transformations of γ-(3,5-dialkyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)propanols by the action of H6PMO9V3O40*26H2O depend on the medium.Products of intramolecular cyclization are mainly formed in the heterophase reaction in benzene.The products of the intermolecular reaction of the solvent and the oxidized phenol are predominantly formed in methanol.The reaction rate depends on the strength of the oxidizing agent and branching of the alkyl substituent in the phenol.
