Usage

Description

Sulfosulfuron, also known as MON 37500, is a post-emergent herbicide specifically designed for the control of grass and broadleaf weeds in cereal crops. It was jointly developed by Monsanto Company and Takeda Chemical Industries and was launched in 1997. Sulfosulfuron works by targeting the growth and development of weeds, providing effective control in agricultural settings.

Uses

Used in Agricultural Industry:
Sulfosulfuron is used as a herbicide for the control of grass (especially Bromus sp.) and broadleaf weeds in cereal crops. It is applied at rates of 10–35 g a.i. ha?1 to achieve effective weed control. However, it is not recommended for use in barley and oats, as these crops are sensitive to sulfosulfuron applications.
At rates of 20–30 g a.i. ha?1, Sulfosulfuron controls a wide range of weeds with at least 85% efficiency, including Elymus repens, A. spica‐venti, Agrostis stolonifera, Avena fatua (North America), Bromus commutatus, B. japonicus, B. mollis, B. rigidus, B. secalinus, B. sterilis, B. tectorum, Poa bulbosa and Poa trivialis, Ambrosia artemisiifolia, Amsinckia lycopsoides, Atriplex patula, Brassica nigra, C. bursa‐pastoris, Claytonia per, Descurainia pinnata, D. sophia, Fumaria officinalis, G. aparine, Helianthus sp., Matricaria chamomilla, M. inodora, P. aviculare, P. persicaria, S. arvensis, Sisymbrium altissimum, S. media, T. arvense, and V. arvensis.
In Europe, Sulfosulfuron is commercially available under the trade name "Monitor?." This herbicide plays a crucial role in maintaining the health and productivity of cereal crops by effectively controlling weed growth and ensuring optimal crop yield.

Method for producing a solid herbicide formulation

The invention relates to a method for producing a solid herbicide formulation containing a) a herbicide from the group of sulfonylurea, or the salts thereof which are useful in the agricultural domain, b) optionally at least one other herbicide, c) optionally a safener, and d) at least one formulation adjuvant. A suspension is formed in water, consisting of the sulfonylurea a), optionally at least one other herbicide b), optionally a safener c) and at least one formulation adjuvant d). The suspension is adjusted to a pH value between 6.5 and 8 by adding an acid or a base, and is then dried to obtain the solid formulation.
