, p. 3161 - 3164 (2017)
A facile metal-free synthesis of naphthalenes by intramolecular transannulation of 1-sulfonyl-4-(2-alkenylphenyl)-1,2,3-triazoles was realized. The in situ formed ketenimine was proposed as the key intermediate, and the desired 2-aminonaphthalenes were generated in up to 87% yield in refluxing 1,2-dichloroethane without any catalyst or additive.
Au(I)-Catalyzed 6-endo-dig Cyclizations of Aromatic 1,5-Enynes to 2-(Naphthalen-2-yl)anilines Leading to Divergent Syntheses of Benzo[α]carbazole, Benzo[c,h]cinnoline and Dibenzo[i]phenanthridine Derivatives

A gold(I)-catalyzed 6-endo-dig cyclization of aromatic 1,5-enynes was developed to synthesize 2-(naphthalen-2-yl)anilines. The functional group tolerance of this cyclization was examined systematically and a possible mechanism was proposed. The derivatization of 2-(naphthalen-2-yl)aniline was carried out to facile access to benzo[α]carbazole, benzo[c,h]cinnoline and dibenzo[i]phenanthridine derivatives in a divergent way.
Indium(III)-Catalyzed Cyclization of Aromatic 5-Enynamides: Facile Synthesis of 2-Aminonaphthalenes, 2-Amino-1H-indenes, and 2,3-Dihydro-1H-indeno[2,1-b]pyridines

Indium(III)-catalyzed cyclization reactions of aromatic 5-enynamides were studied. Indium triflate enabled the efficient synthesis of 2-aminonaphthalenes and 2-amino-1H-indenes from aromatic N-methyl-N-tosyl-ynamides bearing an ortho-vinyl and -isobutenyl group, respectively. The aromatic N-3-arylpropargylynamides bearing an ortho-gem-dihalovinyl subunit underwent a tandem cyclization/carbobromination reaction in the presence of indium tribromide to provide the dibrominated 2,3-dihydro-1H-indeno[2,1-b]pyridine derivatives in good yields.
