Description
Travoprost, also known as Travatan, is a synthetic analogue of prostaglandin F2alpha, specifically the isopropyl ester of prostaglandin F2alpha in which the pentyl group is replaced by a 3-(trifluoromethyl)phenoxymethyl group. It is a colorless oil and is supplied as a 2.5or 5.0-mL sterile 0.004% ophthalmic solution. Travoprost is a selective FP prostaglandin receptor agonist and is claimed to be the most potent and FP-specific analog in its product category.
Uses
Used in Ophthalmology:
Travoprost is used as a topical medication for controlling the progression of open-angle glaucoma and ocular hypertension. It works by reducing intraocular pressure, which is a common optic neuropathy and a leading cause of blindness. Travoprost is a pro-drug, and the isopropyl ester group is hydrolyzed by esterases in the cornea to the biologically active free acid, fluprostenol.
Used in Treatment of Glaucoma:
Travoprost is used as an antiglaucoma agent, specifically as a selective FP prostaglandin receptor agonist. It is administered topically to treat elevated intraocular hypertension (IOP) through open-angle glaucoma.
Used in Treatment of Conditions Arising from Excess Uric Acid:
Travoprost is also used in the treatment of conditions arising from excess uric acid, such as chronic gout.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 157283-68-6 includes 9 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 6 digits, 1,5,7,2,8 and 3 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 6 and 8 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 157283-68:
(8*1)+(7*5)+(6*7)+(5*2)+(4*8)+(3*3)+(2*6)+(1*8)=156
156 % 10 = 6
So 157283-68-6 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
