1633-47-2 Usage

Description

CHLOROACETIC-2-13C ACID is a chemical compound that contains a carbon-13 isotope at the second position of the chloroacetic acid molecule. This stable isotope labeling allows for the tracking and analysis of the compound's behavior in various chemical reactions and biological processes.

Uses

Used in Agricultural Industry:
CHLOROACETIC-2-13C ACID is used as a reagent for the preparation of carbon-13-labeled MON 37500, which is a sulfonylurea wheat herbicide. The use of the carbon-13 isotope in this application aids in the study of the herbicide's metabolic pathways, environmental fate, and potential effects on non-target organisms.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 1633-47-2 includes 7 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 4 digits, 1,6,3 and 3 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 4 and 7 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 1633-47:
(6*1)+(5*6)+(4*3)+(3*3)+(2*4)+(1*7)=72
72 % 10 = 2
So 1633-47-2 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Site reactivity probes: [1,2-13C]chloroacetic acid, a reactivity probe for soil

Castro,O'Shea,Bartnicki

, p. 2154 - 2156 (1995)

Assessing the reactivity of a given site or soil for chemical or biochemical conversion should be a valuable asset for predicting the rate and nature of the processes by which xenobiotics may be transformed in the soil-water sphere. A knowledge of this reactivity could also be useful as a guide for choosing pesticides that may be environmentally tolerable or rapidly degraded at a given site. Moreover, reactivity probes should be a convenient means of assessing the effectiveness of bioremediation efforts. The author's strategy for the development of reactivity probes rests primarily upon studies of the transformations alkyl halides may undergo in the soil-water sphere. Because of their findings chloroacetic acid is chosen as a potential substance for development into a reactivity probe for soil. -from Authors
