The present invention relates to a method for preparing an organic salt of sulfoisophthalic acid from a metal salt of sulfoisophthalic acid and to a cationic-dyeable polyester fiber using the same. The method comprises: an ion exchanging step of mixing the metal salt of sulfoisophthalic acid and quaternary phosphonium ion or quaternary ammonium ion in distilled water of 60anddeg;C to 95anddeg;C and forming a mixed solution containing the organic salt of sulfoisophthalic acid by exchanging the ions; a layer separating step of adding an organic solvent to the mixed solution to dissolve the organic salt of sulfoisophthalic acid with the organic solvent and separating the mixed solution into an upper layer of the distilled water and a by-product, and a lower layer of the organic salt of sulfoisophthalic acid and the organic solvent; an extracting step of extracting the organic salt of sulfoisophthalic acid and the organic solvent of the lower layer; and an obtaining step of obtaining the organic salt of sulfoisophthalic acid by removing the organic solvent. The purpose of the present invention is to provide a method for preparing an organic salt of sulfoisophthalic acid with improved yield ratio without producing water.COPYRIGHT KIPO 2016
