18418-53-6 Usage

Description

N,N-bis(3-Trimethoxysilylpropyl)urea, also known as a dipodal silane, is a type of adhesion promoter with significantly higher hydrolytic stability compared to conventional silanes. It is characterized by its ability to form up to six bonds with a substrate, enhancing the durability and performance of various applications. N,N-bis(3-Trimethoxysilylpropyl)urea is particularly useful in creating durable bonds between organic and inorganic materials, thus generating desired heterogeneous environments or incorporating the bulk properties of different phases into a uniform composite structure.

Uses

Used in Plastic Optics:
N,N-bis(3-Trimethoxysilylpropyl)urea is used as an adhesion promoter for enhancing the bonding and durability of plastic optics, allowing for better performance and longer-lasting products.
Used in Multilayer Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs):
In the electronics industry, N,N-bis(3-Trimethoxysilylpropyl)urea is used as a coupling agent to improve the adhesion and stability of multilayer PCBs, ensuring reliable electrical connections and increased product lifespan.
Used as Adhesive Primers for Ferrous and Nonferrous Metals:
N,N-bis(3-Trimethoxysilylpropyl)urea is used as an adhesive primer for both ferrous and nonferrous metals, providing increased durability and improved bonding properties, which are crucial for various industrial applications.
Used in Coatings and Composite Applications:
In the coatings and composite industries, N,N-bis(3-Trimethoxysilylpropyl)urea is used as a non-functional dipodal silane to enhance hydrolytic stability, leading to better substrate bonding, improved mechanical properties, and increased product shelf life.
When used in combination with conventional silane coupling agents, N,N-bis(3-Trimethoxysilylpropyl)urea provides the necessary functionality for specific applications while also offering increased durability due to its higher hydrolytic stability. This combination is particularly beneficial in various industrial applications where strong and long-lasting bonds between organic and inorganic materials are required.

Structure and conformation

Aliphatic, fluorinated aliphatic or substituted aromatic hydrocarbon substituents are the hydrophobic entities which enable silanes to induce surface hydrophobicity. The organic substitution of the silane must be non-polar. The hydrophobic effect of the organic substitution can be related to the free energy of transfer of hydrocarbon molecules from an aqueous phase to a homogeneous hydrocarbon phase. A successful hydrophobic coating must eliminate or mitigate hydrogen bonding and shield polar surfaces from interaction with water by creating a non-polar interphase. Although silane and silicone derived coatings are in general the most hydrophobic, they maintain a high degree of permeability to water vapor. This allows coatings to breathe and reduce deterioration at the coating interface associated with entrapped water. Since ions are not transported through non-polar silane and silicone coatings, they offer protection to composite structures ranging from pigmented coatings to rebar reinforced concrete.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 18418-53-6 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 1,8,4,1 and 8 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 5 and 3 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 18418-53:
(7*1)+(6*8)+(5*4)+(4*1)+(3*8)+(2*5)+(1*3)=116
116 % 10 = 6
So 18418-53-6 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
