General Description

2',4',5',7'-Tetrabromo-3,4,5,6-tetrachlorofluorescein, also known as eosin Y, is a synthetic red fluorescent dye that belongs to the class of xanthene dyes. 2',4',5',7'-TETRABROMO-3,4,5,6-TETRACHLOROFLUORESCEIN is commonly used as a histological stain for both medical and biological research, as well as in laboratory applications for cell viability assays and fluorescence microscopy. Eosin Y is also utilized as a counterstain in combination with hematoxylin for the visualization of tissues and cells under a microscope. Its molecular structure consists of a tetrachlorofluorescein core with four bromine substituents, which gives it its characteristic red color and allows for its use as a fluorochrome in various scientific and medical applications.
