Description
Basic Blue 11 is an iminium salt composed of 4-[4-(dimethylamino)phenyl][4-(ethylamino)naphthalen-1-yl]methylidene-N,N-dimethylcyclohexa-2,5-dien-1-iminium and chloride ions in a 1:1 ratio. It is a dark blue crystalline powder that exhibits red light blue properties and is a blue-gray uniform powder. It is slightly soluble in cold water, soluble in hot water for a blue color, and easily soluble in ethanol to produce a blue color. When it comes into contact with strong sulfuric acid, it turns pale yellow, which then lightens to green upon dilution. The dye solution forms a brown sodium hydroxide floe content precipitation.
Uses

Preparation
(a) Bis (4 – (dimethylamino) phenyl) methanol and ??N-Ethylnaphthalen-1-amine condensation, and make their products into N-and the nitro derivatives, and then oxidation, remove the nitro; (b) 4-(Dichloro(4-(dimethylamino)phenyl)methyl)-N,N-dimethylbenzenamine?and N-Ethylnaphthalen-1-amine?condensation.
