Usage

Description

Vat Black 8 is a blue light grey to black powder that is insoluble in water, acetone, ethanol, toluene, and chloroform. It is slightly soluble in 2-chlorophenol and pyridine. In concentrated sulfuric acid, it exhibits a yellow-green color with an alkaline reduction leuco for blue light green and an acid reduction leuco for red brown.

Uses

Used in Textile Industry:
Vat Black 8 is used as a dye for cotton fabric jig dyeing, dyeing, and suspended pad dyeing. It is suitable for suspension pad dyeing in deep and shallow gray colors and can be used to dye various shades. The dye is also compatible with fiber/cotton and polyester-cotton blended fabrics in a two-bath set dye dyeing process.
Used in Viscose and Silk Dyeing:
Vat Black 8 is used as a dye for viscose and silk, thanks to its main leuco dye yarn properties.

Preparation

3,9-Dibromo-7H-benzo[de]anthracen-7-one, 3H-naphtho[2,3-f]indazol-3-one and 1-Aminoanthracene-9,10-dione in Potassium hydroxide under the existence of condensation, closed loop.

Safety Profile
