Description
Vat Green 2, also known as brilliant green, is a variegated dark green powder that exhibits green fluorescence when dissolved in certain solvents. It is characterized by its solubility in 1, 2, 3, 4-Tetrahydronaphthalene and slight solubility in 2-Chlorophenol. Vat Green 2 is not soluble in Acetone, Ethanol, Chloroform, Pyridine, and Toluene. When exposed to concentrated sulfuric acid, it turns dark purple. It undergoes alkaline reduction to form a blue leuco compound and acid reduction to form a blue light red leuco compound.
Uses
Used in Textile Industry:
Vat Green 2 is used as a dye for cotton, providing excellent ironing fastness, chlorine bleach resistance, light fastness, and oxygen bleach resistance. It also offers good performance in mercerized and soaping processes.
Used in Paper Industry:
In the paper industry, Vat Green 2 is utilized for coloring and printing paper, offering similar fastness properties as in the textile industry, including resistance to chlorine bleach, light fastness, and oxygen bleach.
