Usage

General Description

2-Chloro-6-(diethylamino)-fluoran, also known as crystal violet, is a synthetic dye and a cationic triarylmethane compound. It is commonly used as a biological stain and an antimicrobial agent. The chemical has a bright violet color and is often used in microbiology to stain and differentiate bacterial and fungal cells.
