Used in Pharmaceutical Industry:
Picroside I is used as an anti-inflammatory agent for its ability to act as an oxygen free radical scavenger, promoting anti-inflammatory activity and potentially being used in the treatment of arthritis.
Used in Hepatoprotection:
Picroside I is used as a hepatoprotective agent for its ability to block changes in acid phosphatase activity, phospholipid levels, and lipid peroxide production induced by D-galactosamine in rat liver, thus protecting the liver from damage.
Used in Neurological Applications:
Picroside I is used as a neurite outgrowth-promoting agent for its ability to enhance neurite outgrowth in PC12D cells induced by basic fibroblast growth factor and 7S nerve growth factor when given at 60 μM, potentially benefiting neurological treatments and therapies.
