27711-63-3 Usage
General Description
1,3-BenzenediMethanol, 5-Methyl, commonly known as "5-Methylresorcinol," is a derivative of resorcinol (1,3-dihydroxybenzene) - it is resorcinol that has a methyl group attached at the fifth position. The chemical formula for 5-Methylresorcinol is C7H8O2, and it appears as yellow solid crystal with a sweet smell. It is mainly used in the cosmetic industry for skin lightening treatments but also has applications in the pharmaceutical industry. This biodegradable chemical has anti-oxidant, antiseptic, and preservative properties. It is slightly soluble in water and fully soluble in ethanol, ether, and several other organic solvents. It should be handled with care, as exposure can cause skin and eye irritation.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 27711-63-3 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 2,7,7,1 and 1 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 6 and 3 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 27711-63:
(7*2)+(6*7)+(5*7)+(4*1)+(3*1)+(2*6)+(1*3)=113
113 % 10 = 3
So 27711-63-3 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Synthesis of monodeoxycalix[4]arene and its dimer structure in solution
Fukazawa,Deyama,Usui
, p. 5803 - 5806 (2007/10/02)
Monodeoxycalix[4]arene (3) has been synthesized by a stepwise condensation method. It forms dimer in solution, the structure of which has an arrangement of the two cone of 3 facing the respective narrower rim with each other. A cyclic hydrogen bonding array of six hydroxyl groups in the dimer was suggested from the thermodynamic parameters of the monomer-dimer equilibrium.
