304-59-6 Usage

Description

Potassium sodium tartrate, also known as Rochelle salt or Seignette's salt, is a double salt that was first prepared in about 1675 by Pierre Seignette, an apothecary from La Rochelle, France. It is a colorless to blue-white salt crystallizing in the orthorhombic system, with a molecular formula of KNaC4H4O6·4H2O. Potassium sodium tartrate is slightly soluble in alcohol but more completely soluble in water, with a solubility of 1 g in 1 ml. It has a specific gravity of about 1.79, a melting point of approximately 75°C, and exhibits a saline, cooling taste.

Uses

1. Used in Food Industry:
Potassium sodium tartrate is used as a food additive for [application type] to enhance the texture and stability of various food products. Its E number is E337, and it has been used medicinally as a laxative.
2. Used in Pharmaceutical Industry:
Potassium sodium tartrate is used as a laxative for [application reason] to promote bowel movement and relieve constipation.
3. Used in Research:
Potassium sodium tartrate solution is used as a chelator for [application reason] to bind and remove metal ions in various research applications.
4. Used in Silvering Mirrors:
Potassium sodium tartrate is used in the process of silvering mirrors for [application reason] to facilitate the deposition of a thin layer of silver on the mirror surface.
5. Used in Analytical Chemistry:
Potassium sodium tartrate is an ingredient of Fehling's solution, which is used for [application reason] the determination of reducing sugars in solutions.
6. Used in Piezoelectricity:
Potassium sodium tartrate and mono potassium phosphate were the first materials discovered to exhibit piezoelectricity, which is used for [application reason] converting mechanical stress into electrical charge and vice versa.

Preparation

Potassium sodium tartrate, (KNaC4H4O6) may be prepared by adding 0.5 mole sodium carbonate to heated solution containing 1 mole potassium bitartrate(KHC4H5O6). (1M KHC4H4O6 : 0.5M Na2CO3). The solution is filtered while hot. This solution is then dried to precipitate solid potassium sodium tartrate, as small crystallites. Larger crystals of Rochelle salt have been grown under conditions of reduced gravity and convection on board Skylab .

Purification Methods

Recrystallise it from distilled water (1.5mL/g) by cooling to 0o. [Beilstein 3 IV 1223.]

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 304-59-6 includes 6 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 3 digits, 3,0 and 4 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 5 and 9 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 304-59:
(5*3)+(4*0)+(3*4)+(2*5)+(1*9)=46
46 % 10 = 6
So 304-59-6 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

PPARo ACTIVATOR

-

, (2022/02/11)

The present invention provides a PPARδ activator containing a novel PPARδ agonist (peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor δ) as an active ingredient, and an exercise tolerance-improving agent containing the same as an active ingredient. The present invention is a PPARδ activator containing a guanidine derivative or a biguanidine derivative as an active ingredient, wherein the PPARδ activator activates transcriptional activity of PPARδ, and the guanidine derivative and the biguanidine derivative are capable of fitting within a PPARδ ligand binding pocket in a state where a guanidino group or a biguanidino group forms a hydrogen bond with amino acid residues corresponding to each of the 413th histidine, 287th histidine, 253rd threonine and the 437th tyrosine of human PPARδ, among amino acid residues constituting an interior surface of the ligand binding pocket; and is an exercise tolerance-improving agent containing the PPARδ activator as an active ingredient.
