31377-05-6 Usage

General Description

Calcium pidolate, also known as pidolic acid or L-pyroglutamic acid, is a calcium salt that is used as a nutritional supplement. It's beneficial for maintaining healthy bones, muscles, nervous system, and heart. CALCIUM PIDOLATE is soluble in water and is often administered orally to treat calcium deficiency or conditions like osteoporosis. The pidolate variant of calcium is reported to have higher bioavailability, meaning it may be better absorbed and utilized by the body compared to other forms. It's generally considered safe for consumption but should be taken as per recommended doses. Overconsumption can cause side effects like constipation and stomach issues.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 31377-05-6 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 3,1,3,7 and 7 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 0 and 5 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 31377-05:
(7*3)+(6*1)+(5*3)+(4*7)+(3*7)+(2*0)+(1*5)=96
96 % 10 = 6
So 31377-05-6 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Metal Bonding by Amino Acids: Preparation and Crystal Structures of Calcium Bis-L-pyroglutamate and Lithium L-Pyroglutamate

Schmidbaur, Hubert,Kiprof, Paul,Kumberger, Otto,Riede, Juergen

, p. 1083 - 1088 (2007/10/02)

Calcium bis-L-pyroglutamate and lithium L-pyroglutamate are prepared by reaction of the metal hydroxides with L-pyroglutamic acid in aqueous solution. In the solid state calcium bis-L-pyroglutamate adopts a layer structure, built up by sixteen-membered rings consisting of four L-pyroglutamate ligands bridging four calcium centers by their carboxylate groups. All three oxygen donors of the L-pyroglutamate ligands are attached to metal centers. The calcium atom lies at the center of a slightly distorted octahedron formed by four carboxylate oxygens and two amide oxygen atoms.Lithium L-pyroglutamate also features a layer structure. All three oxygen donors of the L-pyroglutamate ligand have contacts with metal atoms. The coordination sphere of the lithium atom is a slightly distorted tetrahedron consisting of three carboxylate oxygen atoms and one amide oxygen atom. The investigation of aqueous solutions of the compounds by multinuclear NMR (1H, 13C, 17O) indicates extensive electrolytic dissociation in dilute solutions.Key Words: Calcium bis-L-pyroglutamate / Lithium L-pyroglutamate / Pyroglutamate coordination and conformation
