Usage

General Description

2,3',4,4',5-Pentachlorobiphenyl, also known as PCB 126, is one of the most toxic types of Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs). PCBs, including PCB 126, are synthetic organic chemicals that are no longer produced in the U.S. due to their potential to cause serious health effects, but persist in the environment due to their chemical stability. PCB 126 is particularly toxic as it acts like dioxin, which is known to be carcinogenic and detrimental to the immune, reproductive, nervous, and endocrine systems. It is typically found in mixtures with other PCBs and is primarily present in the environment from past releases and disposal of PCB products. Inhalation, ingestion, and skin contact are main routes of exposure to this chemical.
