The reactions of polyfluoroindanes with Lewis acids were investigated.Indanes containing one (or two)dichloromethylene or carbonyl groups at positions 1,3 were obtained by the reaction of polyfluoroindanes with aluminum chloride and oleum. 1,1-Dichlorooctafluoro- and 1,1,3,3-tetrachlorohexafluoroindanes were synthesized from 1-chlorononafluoroindane and decafluoroindane and aluminum chloride.By the reaction of 1,1,3,3-tetrachlorohexafluoroindane with cesium fluoride or antimony trifluoride polyfluorochloroindanes with a smaller number of chlorine atoms than the initial compound were obtained.
