431-48-1 Usage
General Description
2,3,3-tribromo-1,1,1-trifluoro-propane, also known as Halon 1301, is a chemical compound that is primarily used as a fire extinguishing agent. It is a colorless, odorless gas that is highly effective in suppressing fires by inhibiting the chemical reaction necessary for combustion. Halon 1301 works by disrupting the chemical process of a fire, specifically by removing the heat and oxygen necessary for the fire to continue burning. However, its use has been restricted due to its ozone-depleting properties. As a result, its production and consumption have been regulated under the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer. Therefore, alternative fire extinguishing agents have been developed, and the use of Halon 1301 has been significantly reduced in recent years.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 431-48-1 includes 6 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 3 digits, 4,3 and 1 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 4 and 8 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 431-48:
(5*4)+(4*3)+(3*1)+(2*4)+(1*8)=51
51 % 10 = 1
So 431-48-1 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
