47729-63-5 Usage

Description

JC-1 is a cationic, fluorescent, carbocyanine dye that serves as a ratiometric indicator of mitochondrial potential ΔΨm in cells, tissues, and isolated mitochondria. It is membrane permeable and is commonly used for flow cytometry and fluorescent microscopy. JC-1 labels mitochondria with high membrane potential orange and mitochondria with low membrane potential green. Mitochondrial depolarization is indicated by a decrease in the red/green fluorescence intensity ratio. The potential-sensitive color shift is due to concentration-dependent formation of red fluorescent J-aggregates.

Uses

Used in Cell and Tissue Analysis:
JC-1 is used as a mitochondrial potential indicator for analyzing cells and tissues. It helps in determining the mitochondrial membrane potential, which is crucial for understanding cellular processes and functions.
Used in Flow Cytometry and Fluorescent Microscopy:
JC-1 is used as a staining agent for flow cytometry and fluorescent microscopy. Its color change based on membrane potential allows for the detection and analysis of mitochondrial depolarization in cells.
Used in Detection of Mitochondrial Depolarization:
JC-1 is used as a detection tool for monitoring the collapse of ΔΨm induced by uncouplers of mitochondrial respiration. This is important for studying the effects of various substances on mitochondrial function.
Used in Multidrug-Resistance Cell Assays:
JC-1 is used as a functional assay tool for multidrug-resistance cells. It helps in understanding the mechanisms behind drug resistance and the role of mitochondria in this process.
Used in Apoptosis-Related Mitochondrial Modification Studies:
JC-1 is used as a research tool for studying apoptosis-related mitochondrial modifications. It aids in investigating the role of mitochondria in programmed cell death and the effects of various factors on this process.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 47729-63-5 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 4,7,7,2 and 9 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 6 and 3 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 47729-63:
(7*4)+(6*7)+(5*7)+(4*2)+(3*9)+(2*6)+(1*3)=155
155 % 10 = 5
So 47729-63-5 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
