495-82-9 Usage

Description

Valtropine, an alkaloid isolated from Duboisia leichardtii, is a colorless oil that exhibits slight dextrorotatory rotation with [α]D + 8.3°. It forms crystalline salts, such as the hydrobromide with a melting point of 212°C and [α]D + 6.2°, aurichloride with a melting point of 124°C, and the picrate with a melting point of 227°C. Upon alkaline hydrolysis, it yields tropeine and α-methylbutyric acid.

Uses

1. Used in Pharmaceutical Industry:
Valtropine is used as an active pharmaceutical ingredient for its potential therapeutic effects. Its alkaloid nature and ability to form crystalline salts make it a valuable compound for the development of new drugs.
2. Used in Chemical Research:
Valtropine's unique properties, such as its slight dextrorotatory rotation and the formation of crystalline salts, make it an interesting subject for chemical research. It can be used to study the structure and properties of alkaloids and their potential applications in various fields.
3. Used in Drug Synthesis:
The ability of Valtropine to undergo alkaline hydrolysis and produce tropeine and α-methylbutyric acid makes it a useful starting material for the synthesis of other pharmaceutical compounds. This can lead to the development of new drugs with improved efficacy and reduced side effects.
4. Used in Analytical Chemistry:
Valtropine's distinct optical rotation and melting points can be utilized in analytical chemistry for the identification and quantification of alkaloids in various samples. This can be particularly useful in quality control and authenticity testing of pharmaceutical products containing alkaloids.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 495-82-9 includes 6 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 3 digits, 4,9 and 5 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 8 and 2 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 495-82:
(5*4)+(4*9)+(3*5)+(2*8)+(1*2)=89
89 % 10 = 9
So 495-82-9 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
