50-96-4 Usage

Description

4-[1-hydroxy-2-(propan-2-ylamino)butyl]benzene-1,2-diol hydrochloride is a chemical compound that belongs to the class of hydrochloride salts. It is derived from the parent compound 4-[1-hydroxy-2-(propan-2-ylamino)butyl]benzene-1,2-diol, which is a derivative of benzene with a hydroxyl and aminobutyl functional groups attached to it. 4-[1-hydroxy-2-(propan-2-ylamino)butyl]benzene-1,2-diol hydrochloride exhibits properties of both hydrophilic and hydrophobic nature due to the presence of hydroxyl and alkyl groups, respectively.

Uses

Used in Pharmaceutical Industry:
4-[1-hydroxy-2-(propan-2-ylamino)butyl]benzene-1,2-diol hydrochloride is used as a bronchodilator for the treatment of respiratory conditions such as bronchospasm and asthma. It functions as a β2-adrenergic receptor agonist, which helps in relaxing the smooth muscles of the airways, providing quick relief from respiratory distress.
However, it is important to note that the use of this compound may lead to the development of resistance to β-adrenoceptor stimulants, which could limit its effectiveness over time. Therefore, it is crucial to monitor the dosage and duration of treatment to minimize the risk of resistance development.

Clinical Use

The α-ethyl group confers β2-selectivity, and the β-hydroxyl group and catechol nucleus makes this a direct-acting drug. It is susceptible to COMT metabolism; however, the α-ethyl group inhibits MAO. Therefore, one would expect some oral activity.

Side effects

Isoetharine is dispensed as a solution only for inhalation administration to treat reversible bronchospasm of asthma. It has fallen into relative disuse, because with high doses, there is a significant incidence of cardiovascular (β1-receptor) adverse effects and it has a low β2-receptor potency compared to newer β2-selective agonists. It has a 2- to 4-minute onset of action when inhaled and a duration of action of 3 hours. Isoetharine has adverse effects similar to those of EPI, including palpitations, tachycardia, nausea and vomiting, dizziness, tremor, and headache. Isoetharine may cause decreased levels of theophylline when coadministered. Cardiovascular effects are a concern when isoetharine is taken with other asthma drugs.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 50-96-4 includes 5 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 2 digits, 5 and 0 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 9 and 6 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 50-96:
(4*5)+(3*0)+(2*9)+(1*6)=44
44 % 10 = 4
So 50-96-4 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
