51023-76-8 Usage

Description

SITS (4,4'-diisothiocyano-2,2'-stilbenedisulfonic acid) is a fluorescent probe that is used for the specific and reversible labeling of the outer components of the plasma membrane. It is a light yellow solid that reacts with a fixed number of sites on the surface of cells concerned with anion permeation. SITS does not pass through the osmotic barrier of the membrane and reacts under physiological conditions of temperature, pH, and tonicity. It is detectable in small amounts and has a maximum absorption wavelength of 336 nm and a maximum emission wavelength of 436 nm.

Uses

1. Used in Cell Biology and Membrane Research:
SITS is used as a fluorescent label for the specific and reversible labeling of the outer components of the plasma membrane. This allows researchers to study the properties and functions of the plasma membrane in various cell types.
2. Used in Anion Permeability Studies:
SITS is used as a reagent to study anion permeability in cell membranes. It reacts with specific sites on the surface of cells involved in anion permeation, providing valuable insights into the mechanisms of anion transport across cell membranes.
3. Used in Drug Delivery Systems:
In the field of drug delivery, SITS can be used as a fluorescent marker for membranes. This allows researchers to track and visualize the delivery of drugs to specific cellular targets, improving the efficiency and specificity of drug delivery.
4. Used in Enzyme Inhibition:
SITS is used as an inhibitor of the Na,K-ATPase enzyme by covalently modifying a specific lysine residue. This application is useful in studying the function and regulation of the Na,K-ATPase enzyme, which plays a crucial role in maintaining cellular ion balance and overall cellular function.
5. Used in Pharmaceutical Research:
SITS can be employed in the development of novel drug delivery systems to enhance the applications and efficacy of various therapeutic agents. Its ability to label and interact with cell membranes makes it a valuable tool for designing targeted drug delivery systems.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 51023-76-8 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 5,1,0,2 and 3 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 7 and 6 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 51023-76:
(7*5)+(6*1)+(5*0)+(4*2)+(3*3)+(2*7)+(1*6)=78
78 % 10 = 8
So 51023-76-8 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
