53092-52-7 Usage

Description

Methoprene Acid is an analog of insect juvenile hormone that functions as an insect growth regulator. It selectively binds to the retinoid X receptor (RXR) and acts as a transcriptional activator in both insect and mammalian cells, without any activity at RAR. Methoprene Acid has various biological activities, including negatively regulating thrombosis and hemostasis, inducing neurosteroid biosynthesis in human glial GI-1 cells, and increasing the expression of the brown-fat-uncoupling-protein-1 gene (ucp-1).

Uses

Used in Pest Control Industry:
Methoprene Acid is used as an insect growth regulator for controlling various insect pests. It mimics the action of insect juvenile hormones, disrupting the growth and development of insects, and preventing them from reaching maturity. This results in a reduced population of pests and helps in protecting crops and other plants from damage.
Used in Pharmaceutical Industry:
Methoprene Acid is used as a pharmaceutical agent for its various biological activities. Its ability to negatively regulate thrombosis and hemostasis makes it a potential candidate for the development of treatments for blood clot-related disorders. Additionally, its role in inducing neurosteroid biosynthesis in human glial GI-1 cells and increasing the expression of the brown-fat-uncoupling-protein-1 gene (ucp-1) suggests its potential use in the treatment of neurological and metabolic disorders.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Demethylation, oxidative cleavage, hydrolysis, photodegradation and degradation of methoprene by microorganism results in methoprene acid and other metabolites. Methoprene acid is an insect growth regulator, and is known to control ecdysteroid signaling during development and metamorphism. It is thus used to control larval growth in insects such as mosquitoes, cigarette beetles, fleas and fire ants.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 53092-52-7 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 5,3,0,9 and 2 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 5 and 2 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 53092-52:
(7*5)+(6*3)+(5*0)+(4*9)+(3*2)+(2*5)+(1*2)=107
107 % 10 = 7
So 53092-52-7 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
