53977-47-2 Usage
General Description
1-Isopropyl-4-oxo-1,4-dihydro-3-quinolinecarboxylic acid, also known as nalidixic acid, is a synthetic antibacterial agent belonging to the class of quinolone antibiotics. It works by inhibiting the activity of bacterial DNA gyrase, ultimately disrupting the replication and repair of bacterial DNA. Nalidixic acid is effective against a broad spectrum of both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, making it useful in the treatment of urinary tract infections, gastrointestinal infections, and certain respiratory infections. However, its use has become limited due to the development of bacterial resistance as well as the availability of newer and more effective quinolone antibiotics. Despite this, nalidixic acid remains an important drug in certain regions where resistance to other antibiotics is less common.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 53977-47-2 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 5,3,9,7 and 7 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 4 and 7 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 53977-47:
(7*5)+(6*3)+(5*9)+(4*7)+(3*7)+(2*4)+(1*7)=162
162 % 10 = 2
So 53977-47-2 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
