Description
ROBISON ESTER MONOSODIUM SALT, also known as a glycolytic intermediate, acts as a competitive and reversible inhibitor of hexokinase. It is useful in creating an ATP-regenerating system and causes the release of mitochondrially bound hexokinase in muscle. ROBISON ESTER MONOSODIUM SALT is a white crystalline solid and plays a crucial role in the first step of glycogen synthesis, as well as being the starting molecule of both glycolysis and the pentose phosphate pathways.
Uses
Used in Pharmaceutical Industry:
ROBISON ESTER MONOSODIUM SALT is used as a pharmaceutical compound for studying the progression of glycolysis and the pentose phosphate pathways in cancer cells. Its ability to inhibit hexokinase and affect the metabolic energy production in cancer cells makes it a valuable tool in understanding and potentially treating cancer.
Used in Metabolic Research:
In the field of metabolic research, ROBISON ESTER MONOSODIUM SALT is used as a research tool to investigate the role of D-glucose-6-phosphate in glycogen synthesis and its disruption leading to glycogen storage disease type I or von Gierke's disease. This helps researchers understand the underlying mechanisms of inherited metabolic diseases and develop potential treatments.
Used in Biochemical Studies:
ROBISON ESTER MONOSODIUM SALT is utilized as a biochemical research compound to study the interactions between hexokinase and other cellular components, as well as its role in the regulation of cellular energy production. This knowledge can contribute to the development of new therapeutic strategies for various diseases related to energy metabolism.
Purification Methods
It can be freed from metal impurities as described for glucose-1-phosphate. The solubility of the Na salt is 5% in H2O at 20o. Its barium salt can be purified by solution in dilute HCl and precipitation by neutralising the solution. The precipitate is washed with small volumes of cold water and dried in air. Alternatively the barium salt is dissolved in H2O, 4volumes of EtOH are added, the precipitate is collected, washed with 90% EtOH, absolute EtOH, 75% EtOH/25% Et2O, 25% EtOH/75% Et2O and finally dry Et2O. The dry Barium salt has [] D +17.9o (c 1, H2O). [Beilstein 1 IV.]
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 54010-71-8 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 5,4,0,1 and 0 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 7 and 1 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 54010-71:
(7*5)+(6*4)+(5*0)+(4*1)+(3*0)+(2*7)+(1*1)=78
78 % 10 = 8
So 54010-71-8 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
