545-45-9 Usage

Description

Zygadenine is a steroidal alkaloid that can be isolated from the leaves of Zygadenus intermedius. It forms clusters of colorless needles from C6H6 or Et20 or prisms of the diethanolate from EtOH. Zygadenine is laevorotatory with a specific rotation of [α]20/sup>D 48.2° (c 1.26, CHCl3). The various salts and derivatives of Zygadenine, such as hydrochloride, sulfate, aurichloride monohydrate, hexaacetate, and vanilloyl derivative, crystallize well and have distinct melting points. The structure of the alkaloid has been identified as 7-deoxygermine through chemical and spectroscopic investigations. Zygadenine is highly toxic and has similar effects to cevadine.

Uses

1. Used in Pharmaceutical Industry:
Zygadenine is used as a pharmaceutical compound for its toxic properties, which can be harnessed for specific therapeutic applications. Its structural similarity to cevadine allows it to be studied for potential uses in medicine.
2. Used in Chemical Research:
As a steroidal alkaloid, Zygadenine is used in chemical research to understand its properties, structure, and potential interactions with other compounds. This knowledge can contribute to the development of new drugs or therapies.
3. Used in Toxicological Studies:
Due to its high toxicity, Zygadenine is used in toxicological studies to investigate the effects of such compounds on living organisms and to develop antidotes or treatments for poisoning.
4. Used in Structural Analysis:
The well-crystallized salts and derivatives of Zygadenine make it a useful compound for studying the structural properties of steroidal alkaloids and their potential applications in various fields.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 545-45-9 includes 6 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 3 digits, 5,4 and 5 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 4 and 5 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 545-45:
(5*5)+(4*4)+(3*5)+(2*4)+(1*5)=69
69 % 10 = 9
So 545-45-9 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
