1. The electrophillic cleavage of alkyl fluorides from the esters of α-trifluoromethyl-β,β-dialkoxy-acrylic acids leads to the formation of esters of difluoromethylenemalonic acid. 2. During the reaction between the dimethyl ester of difluoromethylenemalonic acid and trimethylphosphite, a stable adduct is formed, which when heated splits into methyl difluorophosphite and the dimethyl ester of dimethoxymethylenemalonic acid.
