6106-24-7 Usage
Description
Disodium tartrate dihydrate is a white crystalline powder with a water content of 15.66%, determined by the technique of loss on drying at 150°C. It is prepared from high-purity reagents and analyzed in an ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO 17034 accredited calibration laboratory.
Uses
Used in Analytical Chemistry:
Disodium tartrate dihydrate is used as a standardization agent for the Karl Fischer reagent, which is essential for determining trace amounts of water (less than 1%) in various samples.
Used in Food Industry:
As the sodium salt of L-(+)-tartaric acid, disodium tartrate dihydrate is found naturally in berries, grapes, and various wines. It is used as a preservative and flavoring agent, providing antioxidant properties and contributing to the sour taste in these products.
Used in Material Science:
Sodium L-tartrate dibasic dihydrate may be used in the preparation of solid-state M–L compounds (M = bivalent metal ions such as Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn; L = tartrate). It is also utilized in the preparation of copper (II) and cobalt (II) tartrate complexes by reacting with the corresponding metal salts. These complexes can undergo thermal decomposition to form Cu and Co metal oxide nanoparticles.
Purification Methods
It crystallises from warm dilute aqueous NaOH on cooling. [Beilstein 3 H 524.]
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 6106-24-7 includes 7 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 4 digits, 6,1,0 and 6 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 2 and 4 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 6106-24:
(6*6)+(5*1)+(4*0)+(3*6)+(2*2)+(1*4)=67
67 % 10 = 7
So 6106-24-7 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
