6359-05-3 Usage

Description

ETHYL EOSIN is an organic potassium salt with the chemical structure of 2,4,5,7-tetrabromo-9-2-[(ethyloxy)carbonyl]phenyl-3-oxo-3H-xanthen-6-olate as the counterion. It is characterized by its brilliant blue light red color, weak green yellow fluorescence, and its ability to change color in various chemical environments.

Uses

Used in Histology:
ETHYL EOSIN is used as a histological stain for illustrating Negri bodies in the central nervous system of rabid animals. It is particularly useful in the Stoval and Black method, which aids in the detection and identification of these structures.
Used in Dyes and Metabolites:
ETHYL EOSIN is utilized as a dye due to its vibrant color and fluorescence properties. It is slightly soluble in hot water, resulting in a cherry red color with weak green yellow fluorescence. In ethanol, it dissolves to a red color with brown light yellow fluorescence. Additionally, it can be used in the study of metabolites due to its interaction with various chemical environments.
Properties and Applications:
ETHYL EOSIN exhibits good light fastness and heat resistance, making it suitable for various applications where color stability is crucial. It also demonstrates good solubility in water and sodium carbonate (5%), as well as in hydrochloric acid (5%), which allows for its use in a range of chemical and biological processes.

Preparation

Fluorescein (C.I. Acid Yellow 73, C.I. 45350) in water or ethanol solution bromide into four bromine derivatives, and then into sodium salt, then product (C.I. Acid Red 87) ethyl ester and translated into potassium.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 6359-05-3 includes 7 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 4 digits, 6,3,5 and 9 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 0 and 5 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 6359-05:
(6*6)+(5*3)+(4*5)+(3*9)+(2*0)+(1*5)=103
103 % 10 = 3
So 6359-05-3 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
