Usage

General Description

Arterolane, also known as OZ277 or RBx11160, is a synthetic trioxolane—a type of antimalarial drug—used in combination with piperaquine to treat uncomplicated Plasmodium falciparum malaria. It was designed with the goal of creating a synthetically produced drug that would be effective against drug-resistant malaria and have a simpler chemical structure compared to other antimalarial drugs. Arterolane works by causing a rapid and potent reduction in parasitemia, meaning the concentration of parasites within the blood, which helps to decrease symptoms and prevent the progression of the disease. It is generally well-tolerated with few side effects.
