General Description

Tris(methylsulfonyl)methane, also known as MSM, is an organic compound that is derived from the naturally-occurring compound dimethyl sulfone. It is a highly versatile chemical that is commonly used in various industrial and pharmaceutical applications. MSM is often utilized as a solvent and crystallization agent in organic synthesis, as well as a reagent in the production of pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals. In addition, it is also popular in health and wellness products due to its purported anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties. Its ability to easily dissolve in both organic and aqueous solvents makes it a valuable ingredient in a wide range of products, from cosmetics and personal care items to dietary supplements and topical creams. And due to its relatively low toxicity and compatibility with other chemicals, MSM is considered to be a safe and effective ingredient in many different applications.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 67294-81-9 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 6,7,2,9 and 4 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 8 and 1 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 67294-81:
(7*6)+(6*7)+(5*2)+(4*9)+(3*4)+(2*8)+(1*1)=159
159 % 10 = 9
So 67294-81-9 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Synthesis, characterization and crystal structure of bis-(methylsulfonylmethyl) sulfone, a symmetric acyclic trisulfone

Galván,Piro,Echeverria,Molina,Arena,Aguilar, E. Contreras,Ulic,Tuttolomondo,Altabef, A. Ben

, (2021)

Bis - (methylsulfonylmethyl) sulfone, BMSMS, was synthesized and characterized through vibrational (IR, Raman) spectroscopy. The crystal structure of BMSMS, determined by X-ray diffraction methods, together with Hirshfeld surfaces analysis were used to evaluate intermolecular interactions. BMSMS can be considered as one-turn helix of about 7.13 ?, further stabilized by weak intra-molecular CH???O bonds. The experimental results were supplemented by quantum chemical calculations. It was also analyzed the hyperconjugative effects of oxygen atoms lone pairs (LP) on the vibrational behavior of the SO2 group. Besides, biofilm formation and QS activity were evaluated on this new bis- (methylsulfonylmethyl) sulfone.
