68408-02-6 Usage
General Description
2,5,6-Trideutero-homovanillinsaeure, also known as 2,5,6-trideuterohomovanillic acid, is a chemical compound labeled with deuterium atoms. It is a derivative of homovanillic acid, a metabolite of dopamine. 2,5,6-Trideutero-homovanillinsaeure is often used in research and pharmaceutical studies as a stable isotope-labeled internal standard for the quantification of homovanillic acid in biological samples using mass spectrometry. Its stable isotope labeling allows for more accurate and precise measurements of homovanillic acid levels, making it an important tool in the study of dopamine metabolism and related disorders such as Parkinson's disease and schizophrenia. Its use in research may provide valuable insights and potential therapeutic targets for these conditions.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 68408-02-6 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 6,8,4,0 and 8 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 0 and 2 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 68408-02:
(7*6)+(6*8)+(5*4)+(4*0)+(3*8)+(2*0)+(1*2)=136
136 % 10 = 6
So 68408-02-6 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

The deuteriation of constituents in olive oil and red wine with Nafion, a polymer supported acid catalyst
Tuck, Kellie L.,Hayball, Peter J.
, p. 1005 - 1012 (2007/10/03)
A procedure for the deuteriation of a large range of aromatic compounds with phenolic and methoxy substituents has been developed using Nafion, a polymer supported acid catalyst. A range of compounds present in red wine and olive oil were deuteriated using these conditions. This procedure provides a facile route for the labelling of homovanillic alcohol, homovanillic acid, syringic acid, syringaldehyde and vanillin. This method is also applicable for the tritiation of these compounds.
