General Description
Colorless prisms.
Reactivity Profile
Dihydrourea is an amide. Amides/imides react with azo and diazo compounds to generate toxic gases. Flammable gases are formed by the reaction of organic amides/imides with strong reducing agents. Amides are very weak bases (weaker than water). Imides are less basic yet and in fact react with strong bases to form salts. That is, they can react as acids. Mixing amides with dehydrating agents such as P2O5 or SOCl2 generates the corresponding nitrile. The combustion of these compounds generates mixed oxides of nitrogen (NOx).
Fire Hazard
Flash point data are not available for Dihydrourea, but Dihydrourea is probably combustible.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 686-68-0 includes 6 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 3 digits, 6,8 and 6 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 6 and 8 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 686-68:
(5*6)+(4*8)+(3*6)+(2*6)+(1*8)=100
100 % 10 = 0
So 686-68-0 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
