The synthesis, characterization, and reactivity of zwitterionic rhodium and iridium complexes were carried out. The zwitterionic rhodium and iridium complexes contains tris(phosphino)borate ligand [PhB(CH2P iPr2)3] -([PhBP3 ']-). The allyl complexes were prepared by reaction of [PhBP3']Li(THF) with the corresponding [(alkene) 2IrCl)2 complex. It was stated that the ligand B-C bond activation was shown to be a facile reaction pathway for [PhBP3 ']Rh complexes.
