73630-23-6 Usage
Description
QUIN 2, Tetrapotassium Salt, also known as 2-[(2-amino-5-methylphenoxy)methyl]-6-methoxy-8-aminoquinoline-n,n,n',n'-tetraacetic acid tetrapotassium salt, is a high-affinity fluorescent calcium indicator with a Kd of 115 nM for calcium. It exhibits high selectivity for calcium and is not affected by sodium gradients, membrane potential, or intracellular pH. The binding of Ca2+ to QUIN 2 leads to a major shift in UV absorption spectrum and a twenty-fold enhancement in fluorescence quantum yield. It has excitation/emission maxima at 339 and 492 nm, respectively.
Uses
Used in Biological Research:
QUIN 2, Tetrapotassium Salt is used as a fluorescent highly selective Ca2+ indicator for the measurement of intracellular calcium signals with fluorescent indicators. It is particularly useful in studying the practical aspects of measuring cytoplasmic free calcium in biological systems.
Used in Calibration:
QUIN 2, Tetrapotassium Salt is used as a calibration substance in the measurement of cytoplasmic free calcium, helping to ensure accurate and reliable results.
Used in Buffering Intracellular Calcium Transients:
Due to its high affinity for calcium and lack of serious toxic effects at loadings of up to 2 mM, QUIN 2, Tetrapotassium Salt can be used to buffer intracellular calcium transients.
Used in conjunction with TPEN:
TPEN (Cat. No. 616394) can be used in conjunction with QUIN 2 to reduce heavy-metal quenching of QUIN 2 fluorescence in cells, ensuring more accurate measurements in the presence of low calcium concentrations (ex. 354 nm, em. 510 nm) and high calcium conditions (ex. 332 nm, em. 505 nm).

Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 73630-23-6 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 7,3,6,3 and 0 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 2 and 3 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 73630-23:
(7*7)+(6*3)+(5*6)+(4*3)+(3*0)+(2*2)+(1*3)=116
116 % 10 = 6
So 73630-23-6 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
