74472-52-9 Usage
Description
2,2',3,4,4',5,6,6'-OCTACHLOROBIPHENYL is a polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) that is toxic to children's health and poses a threat to the environment and wildlife. It is an organic pollutant that can negatively impact testosterone production and semen viability in animals, such as foxes, affecting their morphology and mating behavior.
Uses
Used in Environmental and Wildlife Studies:
2,2',3,4,4',5,6,6'-OCTACHLOROBIPHENYL is used as a subject of study in environmental and wildlife research to understand its effects on ecosystems, animal behavior, and reproduction. This helps in developing strategies to mitigate the impact of such pollutants and protect the health of both humans and animals.
Used in Regulatory and Monitoring Efforts:
2,2',3,4,4',5,6,6'-OCTACHLOROBIPHENYL is also used as a reference compound in regulatory and monitoring efforts to control the presence of toxic substances in the environment. By monitoring the levels of this pollutant, authorities can enforce regulations and take necessary actions to reduce its harmful effects on the environment and public health.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 74472-52-9 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 7,4,4,7 and 2 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 5 and 2 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 74472-52:
(7*7)+(6*4)+(5*4)+(4*7)+(3*2)+(2*5)+(1*2)=139
139 % 10 = 9
So 74472-52-9 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Physical, spectral and chromatographic properties of all 209 individual PCB congeners
Bolgar,et al.
, p. 2687 - 2705 (2007/10/03)
Through the use of two capillary GC columns: 40% octadecyl/ 15% phenyl methyl siloxane and 50% phenyl methyl siloxane, it was possible to separate 201 PCB congeners with only four unresolved pairs. The data compiled in this study for all 209 congeners will aid in the identification of selected individual components of these environmental pollutants. The use of this data also presents the opportunity for the improved quantification of the commercial PCB formulations. -from Authors
