Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 75717-33-8 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 7,5,7,1 and 7 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 3 and 3 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 75717-33:
(7*7)+(6*5)+(5*7)+(4*1)+(3*7)+(2*3)+(1*3)=148
148 % 10 = 8
So 75717-33-8 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

A novel phenylsulfenylation of unsaturated acids or alcohols by methyl phenyl sulfoxide and substoichiometric (COCl)2

supporting information, (2022/01/03)

Phenylsulfenylation of unsaturated acids and alcohols has been achieved by methyl phenyl sulfoxide (PhSOCH3) and substoichiometric (COCl)2 in CH3CN. The corresponding cyclization products, lactones with a phenylthio group from unsaturated acids were obtained in mediate to good yields, whereas the cyclic ethers with a phenylthio group from unsaturated alcohols in relatively low yields. PhSOH was proposed to be the key active species for phenylsulfenylation, which was generated in situ by the reaction of PhSOCH3 with substiochiometric amount of (COCl)2. Anhydrous HCl could replace (COCl)2 in the reactions to give the comparable results.

Oxidative Functionalization of the β-Carbon in α,β-Unsaturated Systems. Preparation of 3-Phenylthio Enones, Acrylates, and Other Vinyl Derivatives

Bakuzis, Peter,Bakuzis, Marinalva L. F.

, p. 235 - 239 (2007/10/02)

The β-carbon of α,β-unsaturated ketones, esters, lactones, and nitriles can be oxidatively functionalized in a regiospecific manner in a simple sequence of reactions.Michael addition of thiophenol followed by oxidation with N-chlorosuccinimide gives chloro sulfides that readily lose HCl to give 3-phenylthio enones, acrylates, and other vinyl derivatives.
