Description

1,4-bis(tetrahydro-2-furyloxy)butane, also known as THFB, is a synthetic organic compound with the chemical formula C12H22O4. It is characterized by the presence of two tetrahydrofuran rings connected to a butane chain through ether linkages. THFB is an impurity found in Poly(butylene terephthalate) (PBT), a type of thermoplastic polymer, and is also a by-product of 1,4-butanediol, a common chemical intermediate.

Uses

Used in Plastics Industry:
1,4-bis(tetrahydro-2-furyloxy)butane is used as an impurity in the production of Poly(butylene terephthalate) (PBT) for [application reason]. PBT is a high-performance thermoplastic polymer known for its excellent mechanical properties, chemical resistance, and thermal stability. THFB, although an impurity, may contribute to the overall properties of the polymer, such as improving its processability or enhancing certain characteristics.
Used in Chemical Synthesis:
