Description
Lovastatin acid ammonium salt, also known as Mevinolinic acid monoammonium salt, is a chemical compound derived from the fermentation of Aspergillus terreus. It is a white crystalline solid with a molecular formula of C26H41NO7 and a molecular weight of 485.61 g/mol. It is soluble in water and slightly soluble in organic solvents. Lovastatin acid ammonium salt is an important intermediate in the synthesis of Simvastatin, a widely used cholesterol-lowering drug.
Uses
Used in Pharmaceutical Industry:
Lovastatin acid ammonium salt is used as a reactant/reagent in the process for the preparation of the Simvastatin precursor, 2,2-dimethylbutanoic acid (1S,3R,7S,8S,8aR)-8-[(3R,5R)-7-(cyclopropylamino)-3,5-dihydroxy-7-oxoheptyl]-1,2,3,7,8,8a-hexahydro-3,7-dimethyl-1-naphthalenyl ester, via an amidation reaction. This precursor is then used to synthesize Simvastatin, which is a potent HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor and is used to treat high cholesterol levels and reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases.
Check Digit Verification of cas no
The CAS Registry Mumber 77550-67-5 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 7,7,5,5 and 0 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 6 and 7 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 77550-67:
(7*7)+(6*7)+(5*5)+(4*5)+(3*0)+(2*6)+(1*7)=155
155 % 10 = 5
So 77550-67-5 is a valid CAS Registry Number.
